Bennett Lawson Fisher, 58, was a senior vice president of
Fiduciary Trust Company Inter-national. Born in Greenwich,
CT, he graduated from Pomfret School, served in the United
Stated Marine Corps, and attended Yale University, graduating
in the class of 1965.
He joined the bank in 1967 and spent a year in an extensive
training program, during which he worked in many of the bank's
departments. It was an experience he valued highly and was
sorry to see discontinued. He became a portfolio manager,
working for years on the U.N. Pension Fund account, and was
head of the Investment and Custody departments. More recently,
he returned to portfolio management, and served on a number
of ad hoc committees with Susan Getzendaner, translating technology
into account administration.
A colorful raconteur, Ben appreciated humor in all forms
and had brilliant comic timing. He was a conservative and
dedicated Republican, and enjoyed political debate. As an
employee of Fiduciary, he was encouraged to work in many non-profit
organizations, where he became an excellent board member and
often served as treasurer or on the investment committees.
Most of his leisure time was spent on sailboats of all sizes,
sailing and cruising. Also a lifelong skier, his grace on
the ski slope belied his age. He is survived by his wife,
Susan, daughter, Louisa, and son, James. They would like to
thank everyone at Fiduciary for making Ben's 34 years there
interesting, rewarding and fun. He loved his job and his many
friends and colleagues.

I worked with Ben Fisher for 23 years. He was
a very kind-hearted person and would go out of his way to
help you when you asked-sometimes even when you didn't. I
remember when my boss, Mr. Edmond Murphy, died, Ben just came
over to me and put his hand on my shoulder to comfort me.
He didn't need to say anything more.
He will be deeply missed in the Investment Department
both professionally and personally, and it will be very hard
to replace him and accept not being able to work with him
anymore."
