Eric Smith's colleagues at Global Plus remember a man whose heart was as big as he was. A senior business analyst, Eric worked for SunGard for the past 11 years. In that time, he touched the lives of everyone who knew him. They remember a man with an infectious laugh and indefatigable spirit who loved people and his work. Eric always had time to help colleagues and give them words of encouragement.

His ways of caring and concern for others carried into his personal life. A deacon at the Cornerstone Church in Kimberton, Eric drove his church's van to pick up parishioners who had no way to get to Sunday services. He took time to get involved in Phoenixville Area Positive Alternatives, a local youth group, where he worked tirelessly to provide Phoenixville children with scholarships and safe recreational facilities. In his youth, Eric attended Phoenixville schools and played basketball for the high school, so he believed his involvement with the local youth group was the right way to give back to his community. And as a generous contributor to charity, Eric worked actively in United Way campaigns.

A loving brother and devoted grandson, Eric never faltered in supporting his family. His grandmother described her beloved grandson as the apple of her eye. His family extended to his colleagues to whom he lent his unwavering support and gave his undivided attention. By touching the lives of so many, Eric lives on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him.

Fun-loving, gregarious, easy-going personality, thoughtful and kind describe this man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

My heart goes out to Eric's family for they have lost someone very special. I had the pleasure of working with Eric at different banks for close to five years. He was well liked by everyone who knew him, even
the user groups! I'll miss his stories at lunch and his not so-politically-correct jokes. Most of all, I'll miss arguing with him about sports and trying to convert him from being an Eagles fan.
